Instagram & Your Wedding
If you are not a social media lover then this may go right over your head, but I suggest you stay put as you might just like it!
Wedding hashtags are becoming increasingly popular, allowing you to make your wedding day public on Instagram or twitter and share the fun across the web. Before you jump on the hashtag bandwagon, weigh up your options and decide whether it will help express who you are as individuals. It is a great platform for sharing photos and exploring the world. There are pros and cons of Instagram, like everything but it does spread the love on the day!
What are the Pros of using your own Hashtag on your Wedding Day?
Using your own hashtag is fun and it gets everybody involved. You can also use a little blackboard or sign displaying it which are very cute and funky piece of art. So many people are on Instagram now as it’s the latest fad, so a lot of your guests will enjoy getting involved by sharing photos with the hashtag throughout the day. It’s a fun way to bring your guests together and participate in the celebrations.
A unique hashtag lets you personalise your wedding day and add some personal humour.
It also lets you see special parts of the day or evening that you may have missed and gives you even more great memories to share. It is also great for guests who cannot be with you on your wedding day or are in another country, allowing you to share your special day with them.
Its all about sharing your photos from your hairstyle to your wedding dress and your location. A large number of amazing filters makes it an even more beautiful experience. Instagram provides additional functions via other apps like Boomerang and photo grid.
One of the biggest advantages of Instagram is its interface. With so much visual content, you would expect it to be slow and messy but its quite the opposite. Instagram is very neat and organised, there is no flood of information that you can barely process. The platform allows you to organise your profile in a very efficient manner and this is one of the reasons why people rush towards Instagram.
Another great thing about Instagram, it takes privacy very seriously. If you want your photos to remain private between your followers, then it will be private. There are no means to bypass the privacy settings even the profile picture is private. It also allows you to share stories which would disappear after a day. It allows you to photo-share, share videos and live streams.
What are the cons of Instagram?
As I mentioned, it is the latest thing, which means they could easily go out of style. You don’t want to look back and cringe at your choice of hashtag.
Your hashtag might already have been used which will make it harder to find on Insta or twitter. It could also result in your images being mixed up with someone else’s, so make sure you have a unique hashtag.
Phone use – when you are choosing to use a hashtag it will increase the use of phones at your wedding. It could have the opposite effect of bringing your guests together because they are all on their phones.
Over the past ten years, Instagram and Facebook are becoming more and more popular and we are all putting our personal lives online. If you want to have some privacy, using a hashtag could take away from this. Your wedding images will be available to everyone in the world, so this is something that you need to think about as it cannot be undone.
It can be addictive, like all social media platforms, Instagram is addictive. Even people who do not put up pictures can spend the entire time viewing the photos of others and it can be a waste of time.
Tip of the Week
You can get some fabulous photos from your images with your hashtag, a lovely idea would be one giant Instagram collage or little fridge magnets which you can print after your wedding. The images themselves are really small, at around 600 pixels each but it is still good quality to print little prints.
