Connemara National Park
Enjoy various trails throughout the scenic woodlands and mountains that is Connemara Park. Connemara National Park is situated approximately 90 minutes from us here at The Claregalway Hotel but well worth the trip with walks to suit all ages.
Diamond Hill Trail
The Diamond Hill trail is a 7-kilometre loop located in the Connemara National Park along the Wild Atlantic Way. With paved mountain paths and gravel tracks enjoy spectacular views of the Connemara coastline as well as Tully Mountains and the Twelve Bens. The Diamond Hill Trail is classed as strenuous.
The Twelve Bens
The Twelve Bens is suited for an experienced hiker with good navigation skills as you cross three peaks in the rugged Twelve Bens – Ben Lettery, Ben Gleniskey and Ben Gower. Spanning over 11 kilometres this walk features wild mountain terrain and spectacular views. Well worth the trek.

The Western Way
For anyone seeking the ultimate Connemara walking challenge, the Western way is the perfect choice. The 55-kilometre trek starts on the edge of Lough Corrib, rail pushes north-west from the town of Oughterard, through the Maumturk Mountains and into the beautiful Inagh Valley alongside the epic Twelve Bens mountain range, finally ending with the wonder that is Killary Harbour. Challenging and recommended only for experienced trekkers but absolutely breathtaking.
