Meet Nora Gill – Your Dedicated Wedding Planner
Nora Gill, one of the Directors of Claregalway Hotel is Claregalway Hotel’s dedicated Wedding Planner and Coordinator. She personally oversees each wedding and ensures that each day runs as smoothly as possible for every couple. Below, Nora answers a few frequently asked questions and shares some of the valuable experience she has gathered over the past ten years.
What is the first piece of advice you offer a couple on meeting them at your hotel?
To be honest, I rarely offer advice to couples on their first visit to us here at Claregalway Hotel. I listen to what they want.
Each bride has a dream of how she wants her special day to go, usually since she was a little girl. My role as a wedding co-ordinator is to offer general advice on menus choices, recommend bands and other services for the big day, and to give hints on how to make their day really special, and then gradually dispense small bits of wisdom along the way.
Our aim here at Claregalway Hotel is to make recommendations on how to make the couple’s dreams for their perfect wedding come true.
What are the main things to consider when booking your wedding?
Always book proven wedding service providers, be it hotels, photographers, or car hire companies etc. Never book a venue without visiting it at least twice. If you know approximately how many guests will be attending your wedding, ask to see the room set up for that number. This would also apply to photographers; ask for samples of their work to ensure they are good. Never go to see a band in a pub or club, always see them playing in a wedding venue before you book them for your wedding.
On your wedding day, give yourself plenty of time. We always recommend having the wedding ceremony before 1.30pm, as the day goes by so fast and you want to have as many cherished memories as possible.
What is it that makes the weddings at Claregalway Hotel so special?
Weddings are our main focus here at Claregalway Hotel; they are special for a number of reasons. It is a host of little things combined together that give every couple an enjoyable experience on their wedding day. My personal touch and attention to detail are vital – each couple receive my undivided attention from their first enquiry to their departure the day after their wedding. The hotel itself was designed to be intimate, while at the same time offering privacy to the wedding in our Waterdale Suite. Most importantly, however, is that fact that our staff here at Claregalway Hotel are fully aware of the positive affect they can have on the customers experience, from early morning in the breakfast room, to the ‘early morning’ in the residents bar.
Many of our staff have been with us since we opened in 2004 and they are very proud of the work they do and the reputation we have earned as a result of this hard work.
