The rally serves as the first major motorsport event in Ireland in 2012 and also as the first round of the historic Irish Tarmac Championship. Once again, rally headquarters will be situated at Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit and is sure to carry on its tradition of attracting competitors from right across the globe, from America to Eastern Europe.

2012 will mark the 41^st anniversary of the Galway International Rally and a city centre spectator stage will also be incorporated into the event for the first time in 14 years. As always, make sure to take extreme care as a spectator of the rally.

Do:

• Always remain alert and expecting the unexpected
• Keep small children under the strictest of supervision
• Be aware of your surroundings at all times and ensure to leave enough room to get out of harms way
• Listen to the rally marshals as they are there to keep you safe

• Stand below the level of the road or on the rally stage
• Block or remove any signs or arrows
• Block escape routes or prohibited areas
• Allow yourself to get distracted
