This year The Claregalway Hotel is going pink for Mother’s Day, Sunday April 3rd, in aid of Breast Cancer Research, by donating 10% of all Mother’s Day Lunch Menu proceeds to the NBCRI. Treat your Mum to a 3 Course Lunch for €22.50 at The Claregalway Hotel and they will donate 10% of your Lunch Menu to Breast Cancer Research.
This charitable initiative will be fronted by the Hotel staff as they vow to donate all tips made on Friday 1st April to the Galway based Charity. Hotel Owners, Paul and Nora Gill, will then match staff tips in a bid to encourage local customers to partake in the fundraising campaign. A number of collection boxes will be located throughout the Hotel in the run up to Mother’s Day for anybody that wishes to make a donation. A fun raffle night will be held on Saturday 2nd April in the Hotel Bar with lots of prizes to be won including a weekend away in one of Ireland’s Top Hotels.
More than ever, charitable organisations like the NBCRI need funding to continue the incredible proactive work that they carry out.The National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) is a voluntary based charity located at the Clinical Science Institute, University College Hospital, Galway.
Launched in 1991, the key objective of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute is to conduct relevant, ethical research into the biology of breast cancer, to determine the cause of this disease and improve the treatment for patients. The National Breast Cancer Research Institute also work to raise awareness of breast cancer and fundraise to provide improved breast cancer services for women throughout Ireland.
Up to 2000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Ireland each year. As yet breast cancer cannot be prevented, its incidence can only be reduced by early detection. The cause and mechanism of action of breast cancer remain unknown. Treatments are available for breast cancer but ongoing research is essential to ensure the optimal treatment for all patients, to reduce their side effects, improve their quality of life and, primarily, increase their chance of survival.
The research team at the The National Breast Cancer Research Institute are currently investigating the presence of biological markers involved in the detection, development and spread of breast cancer.
The NBCRI funds postdoctoral scientists and postgraduate researchers and provides financial support for the running of the research laboratory.
This Mother’s Day promises to be fantastic day out at The Claregalway Hotel, so treat your Mum to an enjoyable family lunch while supporting a very worthy cause that is close to everyone’s heart.
